KTM Factory Riders plan Christmas with family and friends
Tigers on the racing circuits – home boys at heart. Family, friends and the comforts of home are what most of the KTM factory riders plan for Christmas 2008 while parties are on the agenda for New Year’s Eve.

With the exception of Hiroshi Aoyama, who will be in the air at Christmas, the rest of the KTM line-up plan to spend the holiday season celebrations with those near and dear, catching up on some of the quality time with their families that they miss during the racing season.

Kallio in the snow
So while Hiroshi takes yet another intercontinental flight, his 250 cc road racing team-mate Mika Kallio will be enjoying a cosy Christmas with his parents and grandparents back home in Finland. Kallio then goes to his cottage in Lapland for the New Year celebrations, where he will be joined by friends and his brother and sister and because there has to be a bit of speed on the agenda, he will be skiing riding his skimobile and indulging in a bit of ice racing. While Mika is enjoying the snow landscape, Hiroshi will be back in Barcelona, his European base, for New Year where he will celebrate with friends and take a trip around Spain. After his friends leave he will start intensive training for the planned tests (January 24-26).

KTM Welcomes FIM changes in Motocross Regulations

KTM Welcomes FIM changes in Motocross Regulations
KTM that is always “Ready to Race” has welcomed the just released changes to the FIM Regulations with company officials agreeing that they cover important areas of development that will make a positive impact on the MX racing circuits in coming years.

Stefan Pierer CEO of KTM said he viewed the new regulations as an excellent way forward for the sport of Motocross and would help to guarantee its future in a responsible 21st century context.

As well as a number of decisions already taken, KTM is also very positive about another regulation that is still under discussion but which will probably be finalised shortly. It concerns the reduction of the larger MX1 bikes down to 350 cc.

Stefan Everts, team boss of KTM’s factory team and 10-times MX World Champion is particularly positive about this prospect, saying: “This is definitely a very good move. With development of the latest technology, I am sure that riders will in fact be able to go quicker on a bike less than 450 cc. These will be lighter and more fluid machines that are also better suited to the current track layouts. This is valid beyond the Grand Prix racing scene and it will be excellent for amateur and hobby riders. The 450 cc bike is much too powerful for a amateur.” Everts said he hoped the proposed regulation would come into effect as soon as possible to allow manufacturers to start working on an alternative displacement bike as soon as possible.”

Hans Trunkenpolz – KTM Rally Team Management is speaking

Hans Trunkenpolz – KTM Rally Team Management is speaking
Interview with the Head of the Rally Department – Hans Trunkenpolz …

Please tell us something about the teams for 2008
The KTM teams for the Dakar 2008 include winners from 2006 and 2007, the second-place getter from 2007 and three more top riders. We are therefore represented in the best possible way, not only in quantity but also in the quality of our riders, who have another Dakar victory firmly in their line of vision. Three of the six riders are presently working hard to heal the after effects of crash injuries so that they can be sure to be on the starting line in really top form. Marc Coma and Cyril Despres are the absolute favourites for the overall victory but there’s no way that we are underestimating the top riders of the other brands who are continuously further developing their material. As a principle, I do not give any predictions about who might win the Dakar 2008, because unexpected things come along practically on a daily basis. They require that we take them into consideration and they create a whole new set of circumstances.

KTM ready for Dakar 2008

Posted by Marko Barthel On Dezember - 13 - 2007

Red Bull KTM Team
It’s only a couple of weeks before the start of the 30th edition of the Dakar Rally in Lisbon. Riders all over the world are preparing themselves for the toughest and ultimate off-road race.

Every year the Dakar Rally promises to be longer and harder than last time. But according to the head of the KTM Rally department Hans Trunkenpolz the 30th edition could very well be the toughest Dakar Rally ever.

Repsol KTM Team

Trunkenpolz:” This time of year it’s hectic with the preparations, but we’re on schedule. Our last test was in Dubai, with good results. We’re confident we can win the race, it’s also expected from us, but it still has to happen.”

KTM’s Taddy Blazusiak is the “Last Man Standing” in 2007

Posted by Marko Barthel On Dezember - 11 - 2007
